Compensation: $30-35/hour starting rate + paid training, paid travel, frequent raise opportunities
Applerouth has been helping high school students expand their opportunities for the past 15 years, and we are hiring new tutors in Washington D.C., Silver Spring, Alexandria, and surrounding areas. Our tutors help high school students prepare for the SAT and ACT, as well as high school and college subjects, AP exams, SAT Subject tests, and graduate exams.

We provide 1:1 tutoring tailored to the unique learning needs of each student, and we believe in helping students succeed both on the test and in the classroom. Beyond score gains, our tutors help build students’ confidence, equip them with lifelong learning habits, and foster the self-efficacy needed to combat stress and tame academic anxiety.
As a team of learners, we stay abreast of current research in student cognition, memory, test-anxiety, motivation, and other aspects of learning, and we continually update our methods and materials to incorporate new findings. We place a greater focus on the process side of standardized testing than many of our competitors do, allowing us to positively impact many students whose needs would not be met by attention to content alone.
New tutors go through paid training to provide them with extensive knowledge of both the SAT and ACT, as well as pedagogical strategies to help tutor different types of students. We also provide regular supplemental training to help tutors stay aware of changes to both tests and pedagogy.
Applerouth tutors are the happiest tutors on the market, because we provide:
– Better wages than competitors: $30-35hour + paid travel, bonus incentives, frequent raise opportunities.
– Opportunities to help change students lives.
– Flexible work hours: you decide when, where, and how much you would like to work.
– The opportunity to make $50/hour within 2 years.
– Paid training.
Because Applerouth tutors are the best of the best, we expect applicants to have the following:
-Strong SAT and/or ACT scores.
-Transportation. Many sessions will take place in the student’s home, or in a mutually -amenable location.
-High Speed Internet.
-Prior tutoring/teaching experience is a plus!
