Using LinkedIn With Your Job Search

Are you using LinkedIn? Many students have an account, but most are not using this networking platform to the fullest extent.

I recently met with a senior to talk about a job search. We discussed the feature of filtering alumni on LinkedIn based on their major, city and state. Much to the surprise of this student, an alumni connection was made by doing a specific search in this manner which resulted in an exchange about the alum’s work with a major well known organization based on the west coast.

From this exchange on LinkedIn, a phone meeting had been scheduled. This is an excellent example of the power of using LinkedIn with your job search.

Interested in using LinkedIn with your own job search? Schedule an appointment with your career counselor to learn more.
